Relay Crop technology
Here's how Relay Crop technology works:
- Winter wheat is planted near fly-free date in October
in 10" to 15" wide
rows.
- Intellicoat coated soybeans allow interplanting between the wheat rows when the plants
are small before jointing in mid-spring, thus eliminating most traffic damage.
- The seed coating delays the emergence of soybeans by 20 to 25 days keeping the soybeans
height well below the combine sickle at wheat harvest.
- Interplanted Coated soybeans, will have a head start and longer growing season compared
to traditional double crop soybeans planted after the wheat is cut.
Benefits:
- Two paydays from one field.
- Soil benefits from crop rotation.
- Soil and water conservation advantages.
Who is using this system:
- Midwestern farmers looking for alternative cropping systems.
- Farmers double cropping in the northern Corn Belt.
