Pollinator Plus effectively delays male emergence, can reduce or eliminate split planting, and avoid flaming and cutting. Pollinator Plus allows both parents to be planted at the same time in hybrid crosses requiring splits of 50 to 100 heat units at flowering. Seed companies and growers report that Pollinator Plus allows better utilization of people and equipment through better field operations management.
Pollinator Plus allows planting both parents during the same operation eliminating the typical weather risks associated with split plantings. This eliminates spring planting delays that can result in "missed nicks" at pollination. Pollinator Plus effectively delays pollination initiation and extends the pollen shed window to reduce production risk. Blending of Pollinator Plus coated seed with uncoated seed provides a wider emergence profile and extended flowering periods compared to uncoated seed (see graph). Using Pollinator Plus blended with uncoated seed in border rows can reduce adventitious pollen and outcrosses by providing longer pollen shed in comparison to a single planting of border rows.
